About Harmonie

Harmonie Concert Band

Harmonie is a symphonic wind band, based in South Essex (Rayleigh). We have been playing music for the local Essex and surrounding community since 1976. We currently have around 60 members who meet each week to rehearse in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere.

We perform around 10 concerts per year – many in aid of local charities – and have a very wide music repertoire, with something to suit most musical tastes. This includes classics, popular and light music, marches, and music from films and West-end shows, as well as more demanding works written or arranged specifically for wind band. Many of our concerts are in South Essex, ranging from Thorpe Bay to Romford, and north as far as Colchester, though we will travel to other destinations as well.

Esses Community Foundation logo Harmonie Concert Band has been supported by the Grassroots Grant managed by Essex Community Foundation who have awarded us money for new music for this year’s programme. Essex Community Foundation was set up in 1996 and has established a grants programme which has seen more than 3300 Essex based charities and community groups receive over £10million in grants. Funds are distributed on behalf of a wide range of donors who want their charitable giving to be accessible to local charities.

  1. Hi,
I live in California and work part-time as a musician. I compose arrangements for jazz dance bands (big bands) and wind bands (concert bands) for local colleges and community jazz bands. I am always looking for new bands for which to write and would love the opportunity to write for you. Do you folks play down new arrangements of standards, pop, or jazz tunes? Are you interested in collaborating?
Would love to hear back from you.
    Bruce Baker
